On Sunday we will celebrate the First Sunday in Advent. The first candle of Advent, the candle of Hope, will be lighted. Advent is an invitation to slow down and endeavor to be mindful of, and prepare for, the birth of our Lord Jesus. This invitation is in distinct tension with the ways of the world in which we live where we are urged to become frenetic.
One of the best ways to prepare for the coming of Christmas is in company with the faithful at worship. On Sunday we will contemplate the gift of Hope. Take a break from the litany of doom, gloom, despair and the denial of Hope and join us for worship. Our choir will sing music of the season. Following worship we will gather socially with our wonderfully diverse family of faith. Russ MacLeod will lead an adult class that invites us to think and talk about our journeys in faith. Don’t forget our Annual Christmas Concert at 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening. Come and bring a friend.
