About Us

Our community life centers around Sunday worship where people from over twelve different countries and many different Christian traditions gather together to sing, pray, reflect and ground ourselves in God.  Children ages 3-12 leave for Sunday school before the sermon and an adult class meets after the post-worship coffee and conversation time.  The best way to get to know us is to visit us on a Sunday morning.  Whether you are a lifelong Baptist, a member of another Christian tradition or someone who has never set foot in a church, you are welcome to join us in worship.

First United Baptist Church (originally First Baptist Church) was founded in 1826 as the second church founded in Lowell.  We have a long history of welcoming people new to Lowell, from the local mill workers in our early days to immigrants and transplants today.  Our church family contains people from all over the world as well as people whose families have lived in Lowell and attended this church for generations.

Our building is open 7 days a week in God's service, hosting community organizations and several other congregations.  Massachusetts Baptist Multicultural Ministries and its ACE Center, New American Association of MA, African Community Center of Lowell, and Congolese Development Center service hundreds of immigrants and refugees each year in our building.

For more information about our church or building use, please contact the church office at (978) 452 - 9281.

Worship

Worshiping together adds richness to experiencing faith.

Our services have both contemporary and traditional music, participation by members, and a message (sermon) applying Bible lessons to our lives today.

Sunday School

Learning about God and Jesus is a lifelong process.  We have programs for adults and children.

Bible Study

Digging deeper into God's Word with a small group helps to make sense out of today's world.

Mission Programs

We believe that God asks us to support others.  We have mission trip opportunities, missionary visits, and of course, outreach to others in greater Lowell and beyond.
