FUBC & Greater Lowell

Our love for God and each other extends beyond the church walls and out into the community.

Habitat for Humanity

FUBC is a Covenant Church of HFH, as we were a founding member of the Greater Lowell Chapter in 1986.  Recently we joined with other American Baptist churches in the Merrimack Valley to sponsor a Habitat house on Rock Street in Lowell.  Members of First United gave of their time and money to help build the house and then threw a house-warming shower for the new residents.  Many FUBC members have been long time Habitat for Humanity supporters and we are looking for our next shared project

Lowell Transitional Living Center

FUBC has supported LTLC for 30 years.  Last Christmas, we held a special drive for the LTLC, collecting new socks and feminine hygiene products for those who seek shelter there.

Open Pantry

FUBC was one of the founding churches of the Open Pantry in 1981.   We continue to collect non-perishable food items from members to help stock the Pantry.

Other Ministries

In addition to our shared ministries, many members of our congregation are involved in serving the community through offering assistance to refugee families, visiting nursing homes, taking care of neighbors, and so much more.

Mark 25:35-40 guides our mission locally and globally: For I was hungry and you fed me; thirsty and you gave me something to drink; I was a stranger and you invited me in; naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you visited me…For what you do for the least of my brethren, you also do for Me.
